I have been interning in HSBC at Bonifacio Global for a month and a half already, and through out this time, getting there has always been such a hassle for me.
All my life, there has never been a need for me to commute to a certain destination daily. There was always a car available or a place near by that doesn't require a commute. This past weeks have been the most I've commuted ever, and I can honestly say, I don't like it at all.
I come from a condo in Taft everyday and to get to the Fort, I have to take the LRT then the MRT then a bus from Ayala all the way to my office. Honestly, I wouldn't mind commuting at all if I don't sweat as much as I do. Unfortunately for me, I have such extreme sweat glands that I seem to sweat just as I step foot out of my condo.
Pros and Cons of commuting...
Pros:
It's a humbling fact. Commuting. I now realize how majority of the people get from place to place. All my life, I've been sheltered. Never really caring how a lot of people in the country get from one place to another.
I get to see people from all walks of life, rich or poor. Everybody is an equal.
What I like about commuting via train is the speed. There is no concern for traffic. In a matter of 20 minutes I arrive at Ayala from Taft. Depending on how fast I walk during train transfers.
Cons:
I really really hate sweating!!! But for me no matter what I do, I sweat. Even in an airconditioned room, what more walking from place to place, with the sun shining down on me along with the fact that I am around with a crowd of people. It's exhausting and gross.
I hate how the people are so uncivilized. I feel like I'm in a jungle. People are such savages! Even the women! UGH! Just to get in the train. It's like there won't be a next train coming. ESPECIALLY GETTING OUT OF THE TRAIN. I don't understand why people would wait right in the middle of the door, they can't even wait for you to step out first, they have to block you way. It's really a good thing I am such a patient person, because if I weren't I could knock all those people off. Small people.
HELLO PEOPLE! YOU DON'T NEED TO PUSH. There are phrases such as "Excuse Me" that don't seem known to you.
I hate the lines and the bag inspection. The last thing I hate really are the lines. Line to get in the train, line to get out, line to go down the stairs, line to get a ticket, line to get in the bus, line to get out the bus. ITS MADNESS. With all this, my sweat still continues to drip, non stop. I know its gross. I cant help it!
To get rid of all of these, I drown myself in music. But my iPod is broken and you gotta put the earphones in a certain way for you to hear from both ears. Plus the fact that everything gets tangled up when I get my bag inspected.
But with this experience, I come up with the weirdest inventions some ideas for my thesis as well. It's a humbling and learning experience.
I sometimes wish I could carry my own pocket aircon to stop myself from sweating instead of a pocket fan. Or a suit i can wear with like a space suit of some sort with aircon inside. I dont care how ridiculous i look! At least I am not sweating and people would be afraid to mess with me. HOHOHO.
Oh well. These are just some of the snippets of thoughts I get while on the way to work and on the way back home. Another day tomorrow, another day of madness. UGH. Just two more months till my commuting days are over. WEEEEEE!!!!
